Jesus would not do well in today’s polls because He would not posture or position Himself correctly. As somebody who needed recognition as King of Kings and Lord of Lords, Jesus should have had an advisor helping Him with His campaign.
Jesus made a good move to have a dinner stop at a religious ruler’s home, but He blew it when He allowed a woman with a very tarnished background to touch Him, cry over Him and carry on so. He looked weak when He washed the feet of His followers and behaved like a servant. Jesus did not curry favor with the movers and shakers. Instead He hung out with the down and outers.
Jesus was intentional in His posture. He wants you and I to take the position of serving others. Jesus wants us to choose humility over fame.
John 13:13-15 (NIV)
13 “You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and rightly so, for that is what I am. 14 Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. 15 I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you."
What is you posture?
