Most often, when people say, “If the Lord wills,” they are referring to the reality that Jesus may return or we may have an accident or get ill and pass away. There are people who are curious if we will even make it to the end of the month, according to the Mayan calendar which may indicate that the world will end on December 21, 2012.
Every day is unique and is a gift given to us. Perhaps you are a person who likes routine and a wonderful day is one that did not have anything happen to mess up your typical day. It may be that you are the opposite. Routine means boring to you. A wonderful day is filled with changes and surprises.
The Bible gives a good reminder that you should never take any day for granted. In comparison to God’s time-frame of no beginning/no ending, eternal, forever and ever and ever – our lives are very brief.
James 4:13-15
Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” 14 Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. 15 Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.”
Have a wonderful day, knowing that your day is in the Lord’s care.
