Most of the men are married and have children that varied in age from babies to adult children. I am impressed with the desire each of the men have to be a good father to their family and husband to their wives. We admit that we often feel like we can land a fish better than landing our role as a spiritual leader in our homes.
The men that caught the most fish had a Vexilar. A Vexilar is a brand of electronic fish locator that sends a sonar signal through the water and indicates whether there is fish beneath the area of ice they are fishing. The color and size of the flashing light is an indicator of the size of the fish. The fish locators are sensitive enough that it shows your lure dropping from the top of the ice towards the bottom of the lake. “Marking fish” is a term that means that the fish locator is showing fish near their lure.
Many men wish they had some help indicating whether they were in the right spot doing the right things with their family. They want to know if they are “marking” as a husband and father.
The Holy Spirit is given to us as a spiritual Vexilar, guiding and leading us to success. The catch that we are after is a godly marriage that will be lovingly committed to one another for our whole life. We want a godly family that is full of joy, laughter and love.
The Holy Spirit will indicate whether we are “marking” as godly fathers and husbands. The “marks” are children and wives that are secure and blossoming in their lives. When we venture into unproductive waters of anger, lust, or greed, the Holy Spirit will indicate clearly convicting us. We feel guilty because we are guilty. All we need to do is admit our wrong and move to better waters.
To go out a buy a Vexilar is going to cost you more than $300.00. The Holy Spirit is a free gift to those who believe in Jesus Christ and ask for the Holy Spirit to fill their life.
Acts 8:15-16
15 When they arrived, they prayed for the new believers there that they might receive the Holy Spirit, 16 because the Holy Spirit had not yet come on any of them; they had simply been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
