There is a good feeling when our horizontal places are picked up and orderly. Productivity is not sacrificed looking for something that is misplaced or hidden in the jungle. What usually happens is that one place gets messy and it is not a big deal. Soon another place is a mess and another and another. Finally, I cannot take it anymore and I assault those messy places with fury.
Why do we let our world get so disorganized?
Because it takes time to keep things in order.
The reality is that it takes more time when your horizontal places are disorganized.
It is frustrating spending time looking for something that is not where it should have been.
A good strategy:
First things first.
> The top of the dresser is NOT to be used as a storage unit.
> Make the bed before leaving the bedroom.
> Handle things one time means not leaving it on a counter, dashboard, or desk waiting to be moved, handled, moved to a different spot and FINALLY put way.
> End of the day before leaving the office desk, take a look to see what needs to be filed, discarded, or put into the hands of another.
> Before going to bed, picking up and putting away makes the world more conquerable in the morning.
Luke 15:8-9
“Or suppose a woman has ten silver coins and loses one. Doesn’t she light a lamp, sweep the house and search carefully until she finds it? 9 And when she finds it, she calls her friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost coin.’
