Does God Help You Buy a Car?

I am helping my daughter look for a car to replace her aging Chevy. She has a certain model she is looking for, under so many miles, and within her budget. She has saved up and is ready to pay cash. She does not have any color preference, but does want the car to be an all-wheel drive and have a car rack.

I found a car that fit her criteria. The morning we were going to look at it, I called the dealership and was told the car sold the day before. Okay. My daughter and I prayed for the Lord to help us find the car that would fit the criteria and be a reliably good vehicle.

Another car was found right in our community. It was higher than her budget, but we made an offer. Not accepted. After another paycheck, my daughter had enough to pay full price if that is what it came down to getting a purchase. We went back to the dealership with a higher offer in mind, but not full price. The car was sitting there with a SOLD sign on the windshield. It sold the day before for full price.

Today, we were going to a town further away look at another car. I felt that God was directing our path. My daughter was wrestling with the whole process and just wanted to stay home. She told the Lord that she would go look even though she just wanted to stay home and get some other projects accomplished. I sent a text to the salesman I had contacted the day before and told him we would come this afternoon. He called me to tell me, you guessed it, it sold yesterday.

Does God help people buy cars? Is He really involved in this process?

Proverbs 20:24
A person’s steps are directed by the Lord.
How then can anyone understand their own way?

Jesus told a story about a rich man who had a year of abundant crops. He ran out of storage so, he made a plan to tear down his barns and build bigger storage sheds so he can take life easy. His life was demanded from the Lord that very night for being greedy and not rich towards God. After telling this story, Jesus said to His disciples, “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear.” Luke 12:22

I think God is directing our steps even though it is hard to understand. I know for certain that we are not to be worried about it.

What do you think, would God help you buy a car?

I've been needing a car for awhile. I need a job also. It seems all was gone at once. Please pray for me. I know God is concerned about everything. I wish I could tell my whole story but I can't
Just please pray for me. My name is Tammy.

Hi Tammy,

I want to start off by saying you are not alone. Not because there are countless other people in your situation, but because our Father in heaven is with us and for us. He has many names that represent His character. One of those names is Jehovah Jireh, which means “The Lord is our provider.” He knows what we need as His children. We can trust that He is our provider and will provide all our needs according to His riches in glory.

I know...praying and believing is easier said than done when faced with bills and putting food on the table. I speak as someone who was recently without a job for 9 months, went through countless interviews with no results, and wondered how long it would last before I couldn’t pay my bills and lose everything. A few months prior to being part of a corporate layoff, I moved my family to another state and bought a brand new house, which came with a mortgage. After my job loss, that mortgage increased by $400 monthly because of a recent property tax hike. The reality of providing for my family and paying a mortgage along with other bills, with no income outside of unemployment, my wife’s income, and some savings, was daunting. During this time, my wife suddenly became very ill and was hospitalized for 6 days. Our master bathroom at home had to be torn down and rebuilt due to bad construction and mold found in the interior walls. Dealing with countless contractors, the dust and debris from demolition, and our displacement from our home was one of the most stressful times I’ve ever experienced.

The good in all of this was that during those 9 months, the Lord provided, and we never lacked anything. We had food on the table, my wife’s health improved, the mortgage was paid monthly, and we didn’t have to pay a penny for our master bath rebuild. I was recently given a job offer from a company with which I had interviewed for 3 months. Trust me, interviews should not take that long. I truly believe the Lord was strategically moving the chess pieces through all of this because the peculiar timing of it all led everything to occur exactly when it was supposed to. Here’s what happened:

- The job offer I received provided the salary I needed.
- Our master bath rebuild and other last-minute construction were completed before I started my new job.
- My new job’s start date was the Monday after my last unemployment check.

As a bonus, I was able to purchase a used, but very good condition, car.

I pray these words reach your heart and help you know that the Father is still and always will be Jehovah Jireh.

- He sees you. (Psalm 139:1-3)
- He knows you by name. (Isaiah 43:1)
- He loves you. (John 3:16)
- He is with you. (Matthew 28:20)
- He is for you and not against you. (Jeremiah 29:11-13)

Having faith in the Lord is one thing but having what one prays for
is another. I have the faith , but it takes money to buy a car so how
Will God help me with that is no miracle will bring the car to me.

listen to my story and see if you do not find hope in it. i had a chrystler 300 my father bought for me before he passed away. it was precious to me. last december a drunk driver hit me and got away. i was stuck with repair costs. a good friend at church offerered to fix everything for free if i bought the parts. done.something led me to buy a dash cam so i did then a week ago another drunk driver hit me. keep in mind my car had a lot of miles on it and i was very worried using it for work i would be out of luck if anything else went wrong. this second drunk driver stayed at the scene it was all recorded on my dash cam and within days his insurance got me a rental and accepted liability. they sent me 7800 and im also going to get a payout for the injury portion. ive been 2 years behind on property taxes and getting to the point where i didnt know what i would do. the lord always provides. now brothers and sisters. we do not need a car. we dont even need a house. we ciould live in the woods and still have all that we need. god is so good. keep your hope in god and heavan. this life is but a breathe and then comes everlasting peace. but remember we may not always get whaty we ask for and that is for our own good. god knows exactly what we need in each moment. bless all of you

The two verses really got me to my point of need. Proverbs 20:24 and Luke 12:22.

In 2021, I wanted to buy my first car and I got corned some money and never got the car. The same year, I got my first car through a microfinance loan just after I had forgotten the con scenario.

In 2022 July I got an accident and the car which I had acquired on loan got completely destroyed. I thank God for preserving my life.
The insurance company denied my claim and the microfinance repossessed the wreck.

My urge to buy another car did not die. It still kept rising.
This year 2023, around January I was eying another car, I went to get it through loan but I got conned again.

I do not know to which direction God is leading me. I still trust Him. I still long to get another car soon. I don't know how but I believe it gonna be soon.

I won't worry about anything, I will let myself be led by Him.

Amen.

I am curious to know how this story played out. I recently was looking at getting a new car. The one I currently have is also very old and have had to put a lot of money into it the past 5 years. When looking at a car recently it ended up not going the way I had hoped at the dealership and my husband was reading a verse on his phone "many are the plans in a man's heart but the Lord's purpose prevails". Earlier in the week when praying about it, I read the same scripture from proverbs you listed here. In the past, I've made a habit of giving up on my car search when I don't find one quickly or pray & don't get any answers. I just assume I must be selfish or greedy for asking God about wordly things. So I am curious to know how this ended. Did she ever find a car? Did it end up being reliable? Did she keep searching?

It seems that God is saving her from a lemon. Or maybe it’s not exactly the right time.

Hello, from South Africa.
I have a little Getz 16 Valve, 2006 model. I bought it from previous owner in 2017. Started giving me trouble since 2022. Two mechanics worked on my Zippy and in December 2023 she broke foe the impteenth time. Again 'fixed' in January 2024, and since then, broke another twice .. Engine trouble. Today is 7 May 2024. Zippy found a wonderful mechanic who found out that the pregious mechanic was a cheat! Used wrong and cheap parts, and completely wrong bolts on the Head 😔 I decided to apply for credit (Im 74) and to my surprise, was approved for a brand new car. I'm so excited, and will get a good trade-in for Zippy, but Zippy has been totally revamped, from front to nack, engine overalled, new Radiator, everything, for 12k ZAR, 30K km or 6mnths warranty, and the new car will be 209k ZAR + interest over 3/4 years, and instalments of approximately 3k ZAR! Im supposed to take delivery by Friday if I am happy with the deal. I would love a new car. athe last time I bought a new car was in 2001. I've been batteling with broken cars since 2010🥺 I was ready for my new car until tonight when I googled what the Bible says about buying cars on HirePurchase. I'm speaking to the Lord about it .. Trusting Him for guidance. I can afford to pay the car, but I think about the fact that the new car will cost me the price plus 12% interest, higher insurance etc ..
Well .. I wanted to tell you my story and how I feel ..
Thank you for all the information .. GOD WILL PROVIDE and perhaps I will just pay my South African R13k and not buy the beautiful Suzuki at R300k+
God bless you all!
