While depositing cash the other morning, the ATM took all, but one $20. I tried to deposit it again and it would not take it. The screen highlighted the serial number on the check. My mind gasped, “Must be a counterfeit bill!”. I tried again and the ATM refused to take it. I left vowing to return when the bank opened to see if I had some funny money on my hands.
I was in a meeting that morning and the bank left a message for me to call them. I was even more amazed and convinced that it was a counterfeit bill. Somehow the ATM machine alerted the bank that I was trying to put funny money into my account. Wow. I called them when the meeting was over and they told me they had my debit card.
My puzzlement over this $20 consumed my attention and I failed to take my card out! Someone found my card and put it in the night deposit box. I do not even know who to thank except the Lord Jesus for protecting me in my distraction. An honest person brought a God story to my day instead of a missing debit card with lots of charges racked up.
Psalms 121
I lift up my eyes to the mountains--
where does my help come from?
2 My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
3 He will not let your foot slip--
He who watches over you will not slumber;
4 indeed, He who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.
5 The Lord watches over you--
the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
6 the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.
7 The Lord will keep you from all harm--
He will watch over your life;
8 the Lord will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.
