1 Peter 1:3-5
3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, 5 who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.
Was Peter talking about obedience, salvation and revelation here and now or was it something for the future?
While Jesus was on the earth, He spoke about the coming kingdom and He also said the kingdom has already come because He came. Theologian, George Ladd, calls this the "Already, but not yet". The victory is certain, but battles and skirmishes are still occurring.
This is very good news when you wonder what is going on in the world and in events that directly affect you. The war has already been won! Though battles continue, victory is certain!
