Rachel commented on the difficulty of keeping the south end of the garden free of weeds in comparison to the rest of the garden. There was a clear weed line the first ten feet of the garden at that end. I explained to her that when she enlarged the garden in that direction, she was in a previously unweeded area. The rest of the garden had been weeded each year. The new part was a new battleground against the weeds. Weeds are the enemy of healthy plants and thus, Rachel’s enemy.
Weeds are a lot like sin. When sin is pulled up by the roots, it is cleaned out of our lives. When the weeds of sin are torn out, but the roots remain – it quickly re-grows. When an area of your life has been neglected and grown over with weeds, it takes more effort to clean that area up.
Christ has given you a secret ingredient to be spiritually fertilized; the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is a teacher, comforter, counselor, guide who convicts and encourages. Each day, invite the Holy Spirit to fill you so you can prosper and grow.
Romans 15:13
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
