I was at a conference last week held by TrueBridge, a network of like-minded churches. Rich Kao, pastor at Five Stones Church, shared on “How to Become a Disruptive Leader”. He drew the application points from David’s victory over Goliath, the giant Philistine soldier.
The point, “Take dead aim at the head”, referenced David killing Goliath with a stone thrown from a sling that hit him in the head. The speaker was telling us to aim at the head, the center of our thoughts, and kill the lies, negative thinking, and self-talk that prevent us from the victories that God intends for our lives. There were many other good points to his message, but “aim at the head” stood out for me. I think my way out of many activities and actions because my head said it could not be done or it would not work. We do not use slings and stones, but spiritual weapons to make our thoughts surrender to Jesus Christ. Today, do have thoughts that keep you from pursuing something courageous because you are afraid it will not work out? Aim for the head. 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
